Pellucidar Tropics by Shogun-3D Pellucidar Tropics by Shogun-3D
Pellucidar Tropics is an environment inspired by Turok as well as the fictional Hollow Earth milieu invented by Tarzan creator, Edgar Rice Burroughs for a series of adventure stories. It is a land filled with the relics of ancient Dinosaurs and the lush environment of a tropical valley. Most of the hard surface organics such as the tree's and rocks were created in Zbrush and Mudbox.

Even though the environment is located underground, I wanted to ensure a vast space that mimicked a sky.

Pellucidar Tropics by *Arenthil This piece has a lovely design, great sense of depth and lighting. The textures are very realistic, from the soft moss to the clear water. ( Suggested by PolyMune and Featured by Lyricanna )

I could totally see some funky natives zooming across the landscape on their way to the hunting grounds... :D

Nice work but there is a twist that you are missing for pellucidar (and Burroughs mentioned this) there is no horizon. Because pellucidar is the inside of a sphere, there is no horizon. The landscape curves up and away until it is lost in atmospheric haze or mist. That should be an interesting challenge.

One of the first works I saw by you. Really amazing details, composition and lighting. With the fog it really gives it atmosphere like this place is living and breathing. I think the grass should be alittle thicker on the bottom left there. Really amazingly organic piece.

It was originally a book but yeah there were some movie adaptations, like Tarcan Epic Adventures and the 1976 film "At the Earths Core"

*Sigh* Landscapes such as these take my breath away. The rays of sunshine (how the heck does sunlight even reach underground in the first place :?), the ripples on the stream surface, the amazingly detailed vegetation everywhere, I simply love this.

Heck yeah, even the remains of some creature adds the serenity this piece emits. Simply wonderful. Oh, and congratulations on the DD as well !!

Thanks! I enjoy doing landscape environments, creating an environment that visually achieves a sense of life and character without actual characters is very difficult and fun!
